ROCKFORD (WIFR) – Some students are teaming up with a local hospital to spruce up their neighborhood.

SwedishAmerican employees and kids at Lincoln Middle School spent today cleaning up both campuses. Students also planted flowers and shrubs near the Ryan Jury Child Development Center. They say they’re proud of keeping the area clean for the community.

“We’re helping SwedishAmerican today because they’ve been our partners for a long time and they do so much for our school and help out a lot so it’s really important that we help them out and return the favor by helping them clean up around the campuses and everything,” said 8th grader Giovanna Garcia.

SwedishAmerican has built and rehabilitated over 25 homes. It also partners with other local schools to beautify the neighborhood.
