DURAND (WIFR) -- It’s never too late to honor those who have served us. The Hospice Care of America chose to celebrate several local veterans today, with a special pinning ceremony.
Several veterans were given special awards for their service and the group took time to remember those who gave their lives. Most of the honored veterans live in nursing homes like Medina Manor in Durand. Organizers say they wanted to recognize those who couldn’t travel to other veteran ceremonies. Kenneth Krienke says being honored is a great feeling.
“I think it’s great. A lot of people took the time out to do this. I think they made us feel kind of special. It really did,” said Krienke, a veteran of the Army.
Hospice Care of America will hold another ceremony Friday in Rockford where city officials will issue a proclamation honoring veterans. It starts at 2 at Provena Cor Mariae.
