Homicide Victim Memorial Service Held In Machesney Park

MACHESNEY PARK (WIFR) -- It's something that only those who lived through it can really truly know how it feels, having a family member murdered. And Wednesday those who lived through that unthinkable tragedy come together to provide comfort and support.

The Winnebago County States Attorney's Office hosted it's 8th Annual Carol McFeggan homicide victim memorial service at Riverside Community Church in Machesney Park. The event honors the memory of all Stateline victims of violent crimes. Those in attendance lit candles and released balloons in honor of their lost loved ones.

Donald Wright, Father of Homicide Victim, says
"I never knew these people before, but just what we went through. It's like coming down a roller coaster hill and then, you hit a brick wall. It's just, (pause) but we're there for each other."

The event is named for Carol McFeggan she's the former Auburn High School Receptionist who was murdered by her husband Thomas in June of 2009.
