Home Invasion Victim Recalls Surprise Overnight Visitor

ROCKFORD (WIFR) -- Rockford Police are investigating a second home invasion in less than a week, this one involving a masked man who investigators say climbed through a window to get inside the house.

“All a sudden this guy appeared right in from of me," recalls the victim Dave Erlandson.

He says sometime around 1am on Sunday morning, a masked suspect climbed through an open window at his home on Barry Road and tried to take his wallet. Erlandson says he ended up giving the robber a hundred dollars just to get him to leave, and literally walked him to the door.

“I wasn't sure once I handed him the money he was going to leave, but out the door he went I locked it real quick. I was shaking all over, because you don't know what he's going to do really," says Erlandson.

He wasn’t injured in the incident. Police are still searching for the suspect.
