Rockford (WIFR) -- Rural areas are having a difficult time hiring health professionals, but one summer camp is trying to ease the search.
Rockford College is partnering with the national center for rural health professions and the area health education center to provide the rural health careers camp.
The three day camp is intended for regional high school students who have a budding interest in health professions. The camp shows students what opportunities are available after graduation and are given a hands on experience.
Current rural high school freshmen, sophomores, and juniors from the 19 counties of the northern Illinois area health education center are eligible to apply to the camp.
