Handicapped Man Attacked at Local Wal-Mart

ROCKFORD (WIFR) -- A handicapped man is attacked while trying to put groceries in his car outside a Rockford Wal-Mart.

Police say it happened just before five this morning at the store on West River-side near Owen Center road. Investigators say the 63 year old was putting groceries in his back seat when he was attacked from behind and fell to the ground. Officers say he tried to fight off the suspect, but the man punched him a couple of times before taking his wallet and fleeing the scene. Surveillance footage captured the vehicle circling the lot for some time before the attack.
