ROCKFORD (WIFR) -- Goodwill Industries of Northern Illinois is seeking 50 volunteers for its free income tax assistance program located in Rockford and Machesney Park. Goodwill’s tax sites offer income tax preparation services for low-to-moderate income area residents from January to April each year.

There are many different roles available at Goodwill’s tax sites, and no experience is necessary to become a volunteer. All training is provided free of charge. Volunteer opportunities include tax preparers, quality reviewers, greeters, clerical assistants, and interpreters.

Hardworking families are counting on you to help them this coming tax season – on average, each hour volunteered results in $2,000 in tax refunds!

Goodwill’s VITA Program is supported by the United Way of Rock River Valley, City of Rockford, and the IRS.
