STATELINE (WIFR) – Goodwill Industries of Northern Illinois is seeking volunteers for its GoodTAXES program located in Rockford and Machesney Park. The GoodTAXES Program offers free income tax preparation services for low-to-moderate income area residents from January to April each year.

There are many different roles available at Goodwill’s tax sites, and no experience is necessary to become a volunteer. All training is provided free of charge. Volunteer opportunities include tax preparers, quality reviewers, greeters, clerical assistants, and interpreters. Volunteering hours are flexible. Training takes place in December and January.

Hardworking families are counting on you to help them this coming tax season – on average, each hour volunteered results in $2,000 in tax refunds!

To volunteer, visit Goodwill’s website – A Goodwill staff member will contact you shortly and work with you to set up a schedule. You may also call Goodwill at (815) 965-3795 to volunteer or for more information.

Goodwill’s GoodTAXES Program is supported by the United Way of Rock River Valley, City of Rockford, and the IRS.
