FREEPORT (WIFR) -- FHN is supporting the Freeport YMCA in the national YMCA program Give a Ton, Lose a Ton as we work to lose 2,000 pounds as a community while donating 2,000 pounds of non-perishable food items to the FACC and Salvation Army. As part of the program, FHN and the YMCA are presenting a number of special Wednesday Speaker Series events.
The next event, scheduled for 5:30 p.m. Wednesday, March 13 in the YMCA lobby at 2998 W. Pearl City Road in Freeport, will feature FHN Pediatrician Adam Angelilli, MD, who will talk about how parents can keep their children healthy with proper nutrition and exercise.
You do not need to be signed up for the free Give a Ton, Lose a Ton program to attend the Wednesday speaker series events. There is no charge or registration required, but a canned food donation is encouraged.
The speaker series will continue on Wednesdays in the YMCA lobby with:

Give a Ton, Lose a Ton is a free program running from Feb. 1 through April 31 aimed at helping people in the community lose a collective 2,000 pounds while donating 2,000 pounds of non-perishable food items to local organizations. Participants must register at the YMCA front desk, where they will be given a pledge sheet and participant number. Participants are asked to seek food donations for every pound they lose, weigh in weekly at the YMCA and self-report their progress so the YMCA can track weight lost. Participants who are not already members of the YMCA will receive a free 2-week pass to work out at the YMCA upon signing up for the program. For more information on Give a Ton, Lose a Ton, call the YMCA at 815-235-9622 or visit www.freeportymca.org.
