Gas Prices Under $4.00 Again

STATELINE (WIFR) -- It's been a long time coming, but pump prices are finally going in a direction that we can all be happy about.

Gas prices in the Rockford area have fallen about 7 cents per gallon in the last week, with the average price back under the $4.00 mark. Patrick Dehaan from GasBuddy.com tells me the reasons for the drop at the pump is both seasonal and situational.

"Because of a rise in crude oil supplies reported by the energy information administration about a week and a half ago, that's put a lot of downward pressure on gas prices. As well as the fall switchover back to winter gasoline and a lack of demand. It's really putting a lot of downward pressure on prices,” Dehaan says.

Even with the recent price drop, Dehaan says prices are still about 33 cents higher than it was a year ago at this time.
