Gas Prices Creep Closer to $3/Gal.

ROCKFORD (WIFR) -- After falling seven cents per gallon this week, average gas prices in the Rockford area has dropped to $3.39 per gallon.

According to GasBuddy, this avereage is 29 cents per gallon lower than a month ago and 51 cents per gallon lower than a year ago.

The national average is higher at $3.43 per gallon, which is five cents per gallon lower than it was last week. This price is 18 cents per gallon lower than a month ago and 36 cents per gallon lower than a year ago.

"Gasoline prices continue to erode with twelve states that are seeing prices under $3 per gallon, and more states will join in on that over the next seven days," said Patrick DeHaan, GasBuddy.com senior petroleum analyst, in a press release.
