ROCKFORD (WIFR) – Seven District 205 students aren’t just the top of their class, they’re the top in the nation.
The kids from Galapagos Charter Schools have been accepted into Northwestern University’s Gifted and Talented Summer School Program. It’s a highly competitive program that gives fourth and fifth graders the opportunity to live on a college campus and study everything from robotics to economics.
“When I go there, I really expect to learn more than just any school. I know I can learn more here, but I’ll have more open doors to success there, and to meet m goal to be the first African-American woman president,” said 4th grader Ariel Rossi.
This is the third year in a row that Galapagos has sent a group of students to Northwestern.
