ROCKFORD (WIFR – GE Aviation says they’re expanding their site after having their most successful year ever here in the Stateline.
Justin Benix has been working at GE Avaiation in Loves Park for almost a year now. He’s from Rockford and says he’s happy to enjoy a career at home.
“Get to stay home, be with my family and enjoy the Rockford are as it’s growing and expanding which is a nice thing.”
The company says they’ve been able to hire 34 new workers this year and more than half are from the Stateline, quite an accomplishment when you consider local talent has something many area manufacturers have long said was a hard thing to find.
“There’s a lot of people that have been here for a long time and we’re seeing a lot of new faces lately.
We need jobs in this area and I like to see that my employer is providing some,” said Payton Kohler.
“Good people, good area. I love my job,” said Erin Valdivia. “As far as being part of the growth of the aerospace industry in Rockford I mean nothing beats it.”
This is where GE Aviation says they’re growing to set up new assembly lines. The company says they’re more than doubling floor space at their location in Loves Park after making more money than ever before at this location.
“The employees are excited the local community that we work with has been excited with some of the expansion efforts and retaining a business like this in the local community,” said David Forward.
The company says they were able to hit a big milestone this year, making over $50 million in 2013, the most they’ve made in a single year.
GE Aviation says they’re making room for an increase in business and general aviation orders as well as military spare parts. They’re also working on two brand new products that they hope to get working on in two years.
