Furloughs Hit Air Traffic Control Towers

ROCKFORD (WIFR) – If you’re traveling, airport delays should be on your radar. Today, FAA furloughs kicked in, which means fewer air traffic controllers are on duty.

The FAA tells us the Rockford airport has between 28 and 30 air traffic controllers and 2 or 3 of them will be off each day. The airlines say even small cuts like those can add up, with a third of all flights in the U.S. being delayed.
