LOVES PARK (WIFR) – A good Samaritan gives a little boy a new bike after his was stolen right out of his garage. It’s a heartwarming story you told us about on Facebook.
Nicklaus Singh is a shy 6-year-old who’s now riding in style with a new bike and a smile to match. It’s a big change from when his old bike was stolen from his family’s garage earlier this week.
Nickalaus says he felt sad when he saw his bike wasn’t in his garage, especially since he paid for it with his own allowance.
So his mom, Jenny, posted a picture of the missing wheels on Facebook asking her neighbors to keep an eye out for it and she received a shocking response.
Hundreds of people “liked” the picture, some of them even offering to help pay for a new bike for her son.
“Just knowing that they were all willing to help a perfect stranger, I knew none of these people who were offering us bikes or offering donations to get him a new bike,” Jenny said.
Jenny then received a call from a perfect stranger who said he was on his way to Wal-Mart and thirty minutes later, Kai Loema showed up at her door with an upgraded version of Nicklaus’ old bike with new bells and whistles.
“I don’t even have words to describe how amazing it was. I didn’t think that stuff happened anymore,” Jenny said.
“We’re in a take-take society now, instead of giving so maybe it’ll leave an impression, you know maybe it’ll change his life," said Loema.
Loema says he hopes one day Nicklaus can pay it forward, or for now, just ride carefully.
We’re told a police report wasn’t filed. Jenny says she was in the process of doing so when the Facebook offers came pouring in. Loema also paid for the bike’s 2-year warranty. Our thanks to Jenny for joining us on the Pulse.
