GREEN COUNTY (WIFR) -- Around 2:00 p.m. Sunday, September 23, deputies responded to a multiple vehicle crash on STH 11 and Mt.Hope Rd.
A vehicle, operated by John Kohn of Freeport, IL was headed east bound on STH 11 and attempted to turn into a business in the West 900 Block of STH 11. A second vehicle, operated by Amanda Swedlund, 24, of Juda Wisconsin, rear-ended Kohn's vehicle, causing Kohn to enter the west bound lane of travel, striking a third vehicle driven by 62-year-old George Burris of Shullsburg, WI.
88-year-old John Kohn and passenger Joann Kohn, 80, were both transported to Janesville Mercy Hospital due to injuries. Of the seven occupants in the second vehicle, driven by Swedlund, five were transported to Monroe Clinic Hospital for injuries. The passengers of the third vehicle were not injured.
On Wednesday, September 26, the Rock County Coroner's office notified the Green County Sheriff's Department that Kohn had passed away from his injuries received in the crash.
Amanda Swedlund was issued a citation for inattentive driving and released pending court. The crash remains under investigation by the Sheriff's Department and the Wisconsin State Patrol.
The Green County Sheriff's Department reports that this is the 7th fatality in Green County for 2012.
