FREEPORT (WIFR) -- Freeport Mayor George Gaulrapp has his first challenger. Alderman at large, Andrew Crutchfield, will announce his intent to run for mayor this evening. We had the chance to catch up with him this morning.
“Freeport needs to move forward. Right now we're not going anywhere, we're just stagnant. Businesses are leaving every day.we're not getting entrepreneurship and we need to change that," says Crutchfield.
Crutchfield tells us he plans to run as an independent. He hopes to make Freeport more business-friendly and help reduce crime. He was elected as an alderman at large to Freeport city council last year. George Gaulrapp is running for his third term.
