ROCKFORD (WIFR) -- Former Republican Illinois governor Jim Edgar is supporting the republican candidate for the 68th District, John Cabello.

"John brings a wealth of experience both in law enforcement and on county board, understanding how government should work and understanding the needs of the people,” said Edgar.

Edgar added, he believes Cabello will bring new ideas and solutions to the state house. Cabello was appointed to the 68th District after State Representative Dave Winters retired earlier this summer. Democrat Carl Wasco is also running for the seat.
