ROCKFORD (WIFR) -- A Rockford fire firefighter is sent to the hospital after a blaze inside a local manufacturing plant.

The department says the emergency responder injured his knee while trying to put out this fire inside the Fiberglass Innovations on Kishwaukee Street. Investigators say the blaze started above the sprinkler system near the roof, causing more than $300,000 in damage. Chief Martini says the water safety system saved several buildings from becoming completely destroyed. The sprinklers went off before crews arrived.
