Family and Friends Hold Vigil for Jimmy Hollins

ROCKFORD (WIFR) -- Family and friends of a Rockford man shot and killed earlier this year are calling for justice in his case.

A jury says Damarius Nelson, 19, is not guilty of killing Jimmy Hollins, 20.

Hollins' mother Angela Smith organized a candlelight vigil Tuesday night at the spot where her son was killed in February 2013. Smith says she's not happy with the not guilty verdict and says she plans to appeal the case.

"I'm also getting a petition signed by everyone that's come out here tonight to participate so I can get justice for my son. It's given me a little happiness right about now to see a lot of people come out and support me and my cause for justice for my son," Smith said.

Hollins left behind two sons and a daughter who was born weeks after his death.

Tommy Nabors, 19, also faces murder charges in connection with his murder. Nabors trial hasn't started yet but he will be in court on Friday.
