ROCKFORD (WIFR) -- More turbulence for Boeing's 787 Dreamliner could mean an equally bumpy ride for local manufacturers. Today the FAA ordered a complete review of the new model. Quite a few of the parts for the 787 are made in Rockford, including much of the plane's electrical system. Four separate safety issues have arisen in the last week alone. However, Boeing insists it's not unusual to run into growing pains when a new model is introduced.
Locally, Woodward makes about ten parts for the Dreamliner. A spokeswoman there tells us Woodward will not be involved in the inspection. UTC Aerospace, which supplies the primary power generator, has not returned our phone calls.
