ROCKFORD (WIFR) -- After years of planning, the Rockford Park District is ready to unveil the new and improved Eclipse Lagoon near the Nicholas Conservatory.
Workers started dredging the Sinnissippi Lagoon a little more than a year ago. It was all part of a $1.4 million project to beautify the park. Today, the Rockford Park District held a dedication ceremony. They tell us none of this would have been possible without a generous donation from the eclipse foundation. We had the chance to catch up with the conservatory's namesake.
“Day in and day out, someone will come up to me and say "I've just been up to the conservatory, and what a wonderful place for our community, and I'm very thankful people feel that way,” said Daniel Nicholas, the Namesake for Nicholas Conservatory.
Half a dozen local leaders were at today's ceremony.
