ROCKFORD (WIFR) – Tired of crime and fed up with drugs are a number of Rockford neighborhood groups in a part of the city where crime is rising. Those groups are now trying to get more people to join the fight against it all.

The Five Pointers Neighborhood Association held a special neighborhood watch meeting Wednesday. The group invited other area neighborhood groups in to discuss expanding their watch programs to combat crime.

“If we don’t all fight,” said group Five Pointers coordinator Linda Ksiazek, “our area is going downhill like some of the other areas have.”

The goal is to have a watch captain on every block in these neighborhoods near the Rolling Green area and beyond. Five Pointers Neighborhood Association says it can take years before they actually reach that goal.
