UPDATE: Fatal Car Crash on South Main Street in Rockford


UPDATE: A single car crash in Rockford overnight has left a man dead.

The accident took place after 1:30 a.m. in the 1800 block of South Main Street. Police say the driver of a 2005 Chevy Impala, the only one involved, is reported to have left the roadway when heading southbound and hit a tree. Felipe Patino Juarez was pronounced dead at the scene. The autopsy of Felipe Patio-Juarez showed that the cause of death was head and chest injuries due to a motor vehicle crash. Toxicological tests will be available in the coming weeks. The Rockford Police Department is investigating the crash.



ROCKFORD (WIFR) -- Emergency Crews are on the scene of a serious car crash on Rockford's south side.

Rockford police say the single vehicle crash happened around 1:30 a.m. Tuesday at the intersection of South Main Street and Indiana Avenue. We're told the driver and sole occupant of the car suffered life threatening injuries.

Police are asking us to avoid the area for the next several hours.
