Two Rockford churches are now one congregation after merging together under one name.
The First Presbyterian Church in downtown Rockford held its last Sunday service in its century-old building on main street. The building was sold this past fall.
After the service, the members were welcomed to their new home down the road at the Second Congregational United Church of Christ.
"Now it's time to move on and start a new chapter," said Reverend Beth Wagner. "So we're sad to be leaving the building. We're excited to be joining Second Congregational in new ministry."
The new church will now be known as the Second First Church of Rockford.
