ROCKFORD (WIFR) -- It’s not just students going back to school in District 205 on Monday, hundreds of employees in the Rockford School District will report to work despite not having a collective bargaining agreement.
The contracts for the school bus drivers, food service workers and the paraprofessionals in District 205 are all expired. The three groups had hoped to hammer out a deal before classes started. The paras are hoping for a raise since they say they haven't gotten one in 5 years. Union leaders say they're getting closer to an agreement. The next negotiating session is on Thursday.
