Dist. 205 Renews Liaison Contract with RPD
The Rockford Police Department has signed a two-year contract with District 205 to continue providing liaison officers to monitor students.

ROCKFORD (WIFR) -- The Rockford Police Department has signed a two-year contract with District 205 to continue providing liaison officers to monitor students.

The contract funds 13 full-time Rockford Police Officers, including a supervising sergeant.

All liaison officers undergo training to become certified youth officers in addition to the standardized police officer training provided by the Department.

The liaison officers work 8 hours per school day and are responsible for law enforcement, investigating crimes that take place at the assigned schools, coordinating with the district on security issues, and providing emergency assistance.
