Crash Knocks Down Utility Pole, Slows Traffic in Beloit

BELOIT, WI (WIFR) -- Crews are on the scene of a downed utility pole in Beloit after a car crash early Wednesday morning.

Police say around 3 a.m., a driver fell asleep around Route 81 and Townline Road. The car hit a utility pole, knocking it off its base. No injuries were reported.

Rain is slowing efforts to repair the pole. Non-freight traffic is being directed through the scene on Route 81. Eastbound semi trucks on Route 81 are being told to take Frederick Street north to Madison Road/U.S. Route 213 South to Route 81. Westbound semi trucks should take Madison north to County Q West to Route 81.
