Crack Cocaine Bust in Rockford

ROCKFORD (SLANT) -- The State Line Area Narcotics Team arrested a Rockford resident for delivery of crack cocaine and delivery of cannabis.

Derek Jordan, 28, of the 1000 block of Kilburn Ave., Rockford was arrested and charged with two counts of delivery of a controlled substance (crack cocaine) within 1000 feet of a park (class X felony) and two counts of delivery of cannabis (class 4 felony).

The arrest of Jordan comes after he delivered crack cocaine and cannabis to undercover SLANT agents in June and July 2011.

Class X felonies are punishable by 6 to 30 years in the Illinois Department of Corrections. Class 4 felonies are punishable by 1 to 3 years in the Illinois Department of Corrections.

Jordan was arrested at the Winnebago county jail where he is being held on unrelated charges.

These charges are only an accusation and the defendant is presumed innocent until proven guilty.
