ROCKFORD (WIFR) -- Parents, students, teachers and counselors, and other persons wanting to learn more about local scholarships, FAFSA forms, and the financial aid process are encouraged to attend the Community Scholarship Fair on Tuesday, January 15 from 5:30 – 8:30 pm. at the Rockford Public Library’s Sullivan Center, located at 118 N. Main Street, Rockford.
The Fair is a collaboration between the Community Foundation of Northern Illinois and the Rockford Public Library. Representatives of local scholarship funds will be on hand with guidelines and information about their scholarships. In addition, the following workshops will be available:
An Overview of Financial Aid presented by Rock Valley College, 6:00 p.m.
How to Complete the FAFSA presented by ISAC (Illinois Student Assistance Commission), 6:45 p.m. Online Scholarship Application Demonstration presented by the Community Foundation, 7:30 p.m. “Providing financial support to young people who embrace the challenge of higher education is a wonderful way for people to memorialize loved ones. We are pleased to help people give back to their community in this meaningful way,” said Gloria Lundin, President of the Community Foundation of Northern Illinois.
“Higher education is increasingly important for our students and Rockford Public Library is happy to be partnering with the Community Foundation to ensure families have the information they need to make that education affordable,” said Frank Novak, Executive Director of Rockford Public Library. “Understanding the process as well as the tools and resources available is the first step.”
