ILLINOIS (WIFR) – Commonwealth Edison (Com-Ed) is raising its rates next year. Com-Ed said the average monthly household electric bill will go up almost $6, which adds up to be an extra $70 a year.
The money will be used to fund Com-Ed’s Smart Grid program. Over 200,000 meters will be installed in the Chicago area. Com-Ed is expected to receive about $340 million from the rate hike.
