UPDATE: ROCKFORD (WIFR)-- 58 year-old Fredrick Williams has been arrested after allegedly shooting at his ex-wife's boyfriend.

Rockford Police arrested Williams in his home shortly after 5 pm on Tuesday. He has been charged with aggravated discharge of a firearm at a person.

ROCKFORD (WIFR) – Police say a thick winter coat prevented a man from being shot at a Rockford business earlier today.

Officers say it happened at around 10:30 this morning inside the Jackson Hewitt Tax office on West Riverside Boulevard. Investigators say one for the employees brought her boyfriend with her to work.

Shortly after, the woman’s ex-husband walked in with a gun and shot the woman’s boyfriend. The bullet got stuck in the victims coat. He was able to take the gun away. That’s when the suspect fled on foot.
No arrests have been made.
