UPDATE (WIFR) -- Rockford aldermen approved a new fast food joint

A Chick-Fil-A Restaurant is coming to the Lowe's Parking lot at State and Perryville. There's no word on when the restaurant plans to open its doors.

Chick-fil-A has applied to open a fast food restaurant and a drive thru in the Lowe's parking lot at State and Perryville in Rockford. Two city council committees have approved the application. It will be voted on next Tuesday. Alderman Doug Mark says he thinks it will have no problem passing. You may remember the chain came under fire last year because of comments made by the restaurant's c-e-o about gay marriage.
