ROCKFORD (WIFR) -- You've probably heard about first lady Michelle Obama’s "Let's Move Campaign" to raise awareness about childhood obesity. However, you may not have heard about a local campaign called The Chef's Move to Schools at Trinity Day Care.
Local chef, Diana Kramer, stops by the classroom twice a month to talk to students about healthy foods and to make a delicious treat. Today it was all about fresh fruits.
"They are going to say Chef Diana showed us those blueberries today and hopefully they will want to get the blueberries, they will want to get the produce. They will probably stay away, at least hopefully from the junk food isle. We're just planting a seed here teaching them about food and how good it can be, they may never get another chance to taste this food any other way."
Chef Kramer says when she returns to the classroom in two weeks they will be making applesauce.
