More than three weeks after a gunman opened fire in a Connecticut elementary school, killing 20 first-graders and six educators, a local school is changing its security measures.
Starting tomorrow, Capron Elementary will enforce half a dozen new rules in an effort to enhance the facility's security. Outside doors will now be locked before the bell rings and parents will no longer be allowed to walk their kids to class.
The students must be dropped off outside. The school's principal said the changes were developed after the Newtowne massacre. He said the district is always looking for more safeguards.
