ROCKFORD (WIFR) -- A cancer patient who dedicated her life to gymnastics, is now dealing with challenges outside of the gym.
Kate Foster was diagnosed with cancer last year. The disease was so bad, she even had one of her legs removed. Yet, the amputation didn't stop the Gymnastic Academy of Rockford all-star from trying to compete in her favorite sport. Instead, she continued to practice with her team, until recently when she found out her cancer had returned. On Saturday, the gym is hosted a benefit in her honor to show her family emotional and financial support.
"Honestly it is really weird to have so many people calling me an inspiration because it's not something I have done by choice, it's something that I had to do so you don’t expect it," said Foster.
Foster says she is very thankful for her team and doesn't want to give up on her sport.
