BRYON (WIFR) – Parents in Byron are left with a lot of questions tonight as the school district considers budget cuts that could affect their children. The group spoke out at tonight’s school board meeting asking the board to leave the special education program intact.
Mary McKnight says she moved to Byron to find a good school for her autistic son. Now she’s worried the special education program is going to change.
“The whole reason we moved to Byron was we heard about their amazing program,” said McKnight. “For [my son] to finally be able to come to a district where he can learn something was huge for us.”
The district confirmed they are looking to make some budget cuts but wouldn’t specify where saying only they are doing a complete review of the district and are considering all options.
