Boeing Tests New 787 Batteries

SEATTLE (WIFR) -- A Boeing 787 Dreamliner hit the air Monday for the first time with a redesigned battery system.

The flight that took off from Seattle was just a test flight. But it's part of Boeing's plan to convince safety regulators to allow Boeing to resume using the 787.

The Dreamliner's been grounded since January due to major battery problems. Many 787 parts are made here in Rockford but the faulty batteries were made in Japan.
