ROCKFORD (WIFR) – More than 125 supporters of the Carrie Lynn Children's Center took part in the first ever Club Blue Kickoff Party held at Francesco's Restaurant in Rockford October 9th. Club Blue is the annual fundraiser held for the Carrie Lynn Children's Center in Rockford that helps children who have suffered sexual, physical or emotional abuse. The Kickoff Party helped raise awareness of the fundraiser and the Carrie Lynn Children's Center.
Winnebago County State's Attorney Joe Bruscato spoke to the enthusiastic crowd about the critical work the Carrie Lynn Children's Center is doing and how Club Blue plays a crucial role in supporting the agency's efforts. This year's event will be held Friday, April 4th, 2014 with 400 tickets being sold.
"We couldn't do this fundraiser without all of the people here that support it", said Jayme Bastian, Chairman of the Carrie Lynn Children's Center Friends Board and Co-Chair of Club Blue 2014. "The bottom line is that all of these people are helping to make a positive difference by helping us to raise funds for the Carrie Lynn Center. Those funds will help abused children in our community get the help they need and deserve."
The Kickoff Party resulted in more than $30,000.00 in early sponsorship commitments, with an overall goals of raising $150,000 from sponsorships. Organizers hope to raise a total of $200,000.00 through Club Blue this year.
