Beloit College Sorority to Host ShamROCK

BELOIT (WIFR) – Kappa Delta Sorority at Beloit College will be hosting ShamROCK! March 22 from 8 to 10 pm. ShamROCK, a karaoke competition between Beloit College professors and students, and a silent auction, will be held in Wilson Theatere located in Meyer Hall at Beloit College. The entrance fee is $2.

Eighty percent of the proceeds collected will remain in Wisconsin, benefiting Prevent Child Abuse Wisconsin. The remaining 20 percent will go to Prevent Child Abuse America (PCA America), the sorority's national philanthropy, for nationwide public awareness programs. They will join thousands of Kappa Deltas across the country in the fund-raiser to benefit local affiliates and chapters of PCA America.

Kappa Delta’s Vice President-Community Service, Hannah Ice-Cook, says: "Shamrock is a great way to raise awareness of child abuse in America. Often times, we think that child abuse is a part of the past, but in reality, millions of children suffer from it every year. Helping to raise awareness and donations to Prevent Child Abuse America is so beneficial for prevention of the alarming statistics."

Founded in 1897, Kappa Delta Sorority began supporting PCA America in 1981, and began the nationwide Shamrock Event in 1983. More than $6 million has been raised through these events to benefit child abuse prevention efforts across the country.
