BELOIT (WIFR) – There’s a new type of vehicle hitting the streets next week. It’s expected to keep law enforcement officers safe in dangerous situations.
The BEARCAT is made of protective amour and bulletproof glass. It will be used during standoffs of if there’s an active shooter. The Rock County Sheriff’s Department and Beloit and Janesville Police Departments pooled their money together to buy the $195,000 vehicle. That money was all from seizures and forfeitures, so no tax dollars were used.
