Attempted Robbery at Denny's

ROCKFORD (WIFR) -- Rockford police are investigating an attempted robbery at Denny's.

Police say around 5:00 p.m. Monday, officers were called to the Denny's on East State Street. Workers at the restaurant say a white man around 45-years-old came into the restaurant, ordered food, ate and when given his check, he wrote a note on the back saying this was a robbery and he had a gun. When employees didn't respond as expected, the suspect left on foot heading south. When police arrived they check the area, but did not find the suspect. No gun was displayed, no shots were fired and no one was hurt.

The suspect is described as a white man, 45-years-old, with white hair and a full beard. Wearing a possible yellow shirt and blue jeans. Anyone with information is encouraged to call police at 815-987-5824 or CrimeStoppers at 815-963-7867.
