STATELINE (MHCS) -- Sheriff Keith Nygren announced today the arrest of a Belvidere resident, Douglas J. Boehning for Burglary and Theft. Members of the McHenry County Sheriff’s Office Criminal Investigations Division and members of the Ogle County Sheriff’s Office conducted a three month investigation into the criminal activities of Boehning.

Since early January, rural residences in McHenry County, Ogle County and DeKalb County were burglarized for tools and other items of value. Boehning had ties to the McHenry County area and was previously incarcerated for burglary. Boehning served a three year Prison sentence at Statesville Correctional Center for prior burglaries committed in Lake in the Hills, Huntley and Arlington Heights.

Boehning was apprehended during the early morning hours on March 23, 2011 by members of the Ogle County Sheriff’s Office immediately after he committed a burglary in Ogle County. Ogle County has subsequently charged Boehning with eight counts of burglary. He remains in the Ogle County Jail awaiting bond. Boehning was linked to an additional burglary in McHenry County. Proceeds from the McHenry County burglary was recovered subsequent to Boehning’s arrest. The investigation is still on-going and additional charges and arrests may occur.
