OREGON (WIFR) -- Families in Oregon now have an ambulance service after being without one for about two weeks.
The Oregon Fire District has taken on Loves Park company ATS Medical Services for ten months. Before that, neighboring fire districts had to step in to help. Oregon is one of the few communities without a tax-supported ambulance service. In mid-June, the not-profit service closed because of some budget problems. Oregon's fire chief says he hopes to have a referendum for a tax-supported ambulance service on the ballot in November.
