Alzheimer's Association Partners with Soul

ROCKFORD (WIFR) -- - Soul News Network (SOUL) is proud to announce a partnership with the Alzheimer's Association ® Greater Illinois Chapter. The Association will contribute monthly articles about Alzheimer's disease, services and programs for those affected, care giving and wellness that will apply to readers' everyday lives.

"We are thrilled to continue to share information about Alzheimer's disease and health issues to a diverse audience via our new partnership with Soul News Network" said Patricia MacMillan, media relations and social media specialist for the Alzheimer's Association, Greater Illinois Chapter.

According to the Alzheimer's Association Special Report on Race, Ethnicity and Alzheimer's, which was released in conjunction with the organization's 2010 Alzheimer's Disease Facts and Figures, research indicates that older African-Americans are probably about two times more likely than older whites to have Alzheimer's and other dementias. The report goes on to state that no known genetic factors can account for the differences in the prevalence of Alzheimer's disease and other dementias among different racial groups, but that conditions such as high blood pressure and diabetes, both of which are known risk factors for Alzheimer's disease and dementia, are more common in African-Americans and likely account for some of the disparity.

By partnering with the Alzheimer's Association, SOUL is continuing to fulfill our mission of providing information that helps people reach their full potential, live their purpose, and take on each challenge with the power that lies within.
