Alleged Gang Member Sentenced in Housing Development Shooting

WINNEBAGO COUNTY (WIFR) -- An alleged gang member arrested for shooting at security guards at a Rockford Housing Complex is heading to prison.

Augustus Young, 31, plead guilty on Monday and was sentenced to six years in prison for unlawful use of weapons by a felon and parole violation.

He was charged with aggravated battery to a senior citizen and two counts of domestic battery, but those charges were dismissed.

Young was arrested back on October 3, 2013 after he was wanted in connection to a shooting at the Concord Commons Housing Development on June 23, 2013.

Young, also known as "Gus" or "Lil Gus" is an alleged member of the "WACO" gang.


WINNEBAGO COUNTY (WIFR) -- Stateline police have arrested a man in connection with a shooting earlier this summer at the Concord Commons Housing Development.

31 year-old Augustus Young was taken into custody Thursday afternoon.

Young, also known as "Gus" or "Lil Gus" is an alleged member of the "WACO" gang.

He's been charged with unlawful use of weapons by a felon, aggravated battery to a senior citizen, two counts of domestic battery and parole violation.
