Advanced Placement Scholars Numbers Increase

BELOIT (WIFR) – 28 students from Beloit Memorial High School (BMHS) have earned AP Scholar Awards by the College Board in recognition of their exceptional achievement on the college-level Advanced Placement Program Exams, as compared to nineteen students achieving awards the previous year.

The College Board’s Advanced Placement Program allows students to take college-level courses while still in high school, with the reward of receiving college credit, advanced placement, or both for successful performance on the AP Exams.

Students took the AP Exams in May 2012 after completing the challenging courses at their high schools.

Nineteen students qualified for the AP Scholar Award by completing three or more AP Exams with scores of 3 or higher. The students recognized are: Jessica Andreas, Pierre Charles, Margo Grover, Josef Hartzel, Margret Hogan, Devin Jones, Jisu Kim, Austin Knoble, Kayla Knowles, Helen Koth, Alexandra Larson-Osborne, Andrea Lopez-Arteaga, Nathaniel Metz, Kevin Nguyen, Schuyler Rath, Daeun Shim, Alec Shu, Joshua Swedlund and Matthew Ziebert.

Four students qualified for the AP Scholar with Honor Award by earning an average score of at least 3.25 on all AP Exams taken, and scores of 3 or higher on four or more of these exams. These students are: Pablo Montes, Cody Schober, Ashley Smith, and Asia Wait.

Five qualified for the AP Scholar with Distinction Award by earning an average score of at least 3.5 on all AP Exams taken, and scores of 3 or higher on five or more of these
exams. They include: Kaitlyn Hansen, Emily Olszewski, Hong Trinh, Sarah Weiss and Mariel White.
