Illinois residents will soon be able to look up more than just registered sex offenders.

State law will soon require convicted arsonists to enter their names and addresses into a database that officials say will help track down repeat arson offenders.

Illinois has a new law called the Arsonist Registration Act. The act requires convicted arsonists to register with local law enforcement officials for 10 years.

The law takes effect in January. The registry will eventually be available to the public on the state fire marshal's web site.
