ROCKFORD (WIFR) -- Today the group is wrapping up a week long survey of more than 100 local businesses about what they would like to see in a downtown boutique hotel.

The survey is part of a larger study being conducted by an independent group hired by the partnership. Different from a regular chain hotel, the idea being looked at would fit into the downtown lifestyle and offer a more intimate setting.

Partnership President Peter Provenzahno believes once the entire study is complete, we could see just such a business opening its doors within four years.

Part of the survey's purpose is to prove there is a downtown demand, and what local businesses are looking for in a boutique hotel.
