ROCKFORD (WIFR) -- The “Donate Movement” is a program that goodwill has been participating in since the beginning of the year. So far over a billion pounds of clothes nationally have been kept out of the landfill.

These clothes are also helping over two million people through job training and employment placement. Shannon Halverson comments on how on the local efforts.

"Out of those seven million pounds of donations, 91 percent of them are kept out of landfills by reselling items in our stores, reusing items, the items that aren't sold in our stores are shipped to third world countries and recycling. We recycle all plastic, paper, computers." said Halverson.

Even computers donated are sent off to Dell to be refurbished and are then given to schools and people in need.
